In this web you can create your own voki, that is a toon which say that you want. Previously you choose the character, the voice, the idiom and write that you want to say. When you have created it, you can introduce it in your web or blog.
I think that is very interesting because children find out it very entertaining, so we will grasp their attention easily. You can use them as welcome, or an introduccion to an activity, and so on.
It’s difficult find webs in Internet that we can use in class such as they are. We can find a game in one web, or a song in another web, or a video in a third web, and so on. I find several pages that cuold be useful for us, so here you are one example of them, created by me:
As all resources, Internet is useful for teachers, in our case for English as second language teachers. Intenet is useful and, at the same time, it’s dangerous for teachers and pupils.
It’s dangerous for teacher because they could become easygoing. That is, they can search a lesson, or a topic or something like this, and never come to think something to solve their classroom troubles. You can look for solutions to a concrete trouble of a certain child in one of your classes, but not repeat classes that you find in Internet.
Besides this, Internet is dangerous for children because they could find inappropriate things, as adult content, games…, or simply they can get confused the publicity of the webs.
If, as I hope and think, teachers are careful, Internet is the best resource for our job. We can find a lot of activities, examples, lessons, methodologies, and even personal experiences of others teachers which could be interesting for our own improvement. besides this we can make our own webs, blogs, activities, songs, videos, and things like this to improve our classes, making them more allure, motivating and interesting for our pupils.
In summary, we have in Internet the most valuable tool to improve the learning of our pupils.
I’ve studied childhood education teacher. I was studying in Burgos and in Logroño and I had practices in both cities. In Burgos I was teaching in a public school and in Logroño in a concerted private school. In both there were a great diversity of pupils, with inmigration and ethnic minorities.
I was delighted in Burgos with my practices teacher. She is a wonderful teacher, always with the smile on her face, without raising her voice to the children, loving… And her mood was contagious, so it was very easy work there.
On the other hand, here in Logroño, my practices teacher was very calm and quiet. It’s true that he used more technology in classroom, using, above all, a pc tablet.
In both schools I found all types of children and, in both, I loved them. It´s impossible make comparisons among children, because each pupil is unique, with his or her good and bad things, and, althought it is hard work and it’s heavy, this is our profession, and I love it.
